Calling all Developers: Contribute to Hyperledger Iroha
Many posts are spread across message boards and social media all over the internet, with eager and talented computer scientists seeking opportunities to enter the world of Web3. Indeed, the third Internet Iteration sparks a lot of interest, as plenty of technologies promise to revolutionise asset ownership and overhaul the current financial system.
Consortiums such as the Hyperledger Foundation have undertaken the task of bringing together the best minds and most important companies in the world to partake in the development of blockchain technology that can take the task of this massive transformation on its shoulders. Fortunately, these technologies are open-source; anyone can contribute and become a part of the revolution. Of course, one does not simply get a job in Web3, with plenty of projects and networks; the competition to land the coveted role of tech lead or even analyst is an uphill battle that requires experience and credentials.
Get Started in Hyperledger
Fortunately for you, as these technologies are open-source, honing your skills is as simple as picking up an issue and undertaking the challenge to solve it. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from as long as you have the skills (Rust, most likely) and the creativity to solve the presented problems.
An interesting place to start would be Hyperledger Iroha. This distributed ledger (or private blockchain) was initially proposed by the Japanese-Swiss company Soramitsu (see, diverse), and it currently powers the only Central Bank Digital Payment backbone infrastructure operating in the world. You can check out the Iroha Tutorial to get familiar with what it does and how then pick up a good first issue to start contributing.
As mentioned before, this is open source, so your pull request will live forever in Iroha’s source code once merged; as you know, this will be a nice reference to add to your portfolio. Contributing to Hyperledger Iroha is a great opportunity to get to grips with the Web3 ecosystem and participate in developing and improving a revolutionary technology that powers entire economies, payment systems, and fraud prevention infrastructure.
What are you Waiting For?
Diversity is greatly treasured, as different people from different backgrounds bring their unique mindsets and angles to solving problems and improving systems. Only you have the insight from your special background that can solve a problem in a way that nobody else can. Economic systems and other blockchain applications impact people all over the world. Therefore, it is only natural that this global vision is also applied to their development.
We look forward to your contribution and welcome you with open arms to participate in revolutionising the current systems for the benefit of humanity. In the end, this is a win-win situation. You get valuable experience contributing to the networks that will fuel tomorrow while helping them become good enough to fulfil their goal of improving people’s lives and setting the foundation for a better future, and who knows, you might just end up finding a great role contributing to Hyperledger Iroha for the long term...
